Double whammy: NBA fines Anthony Edwards $50,000 for profanity after Game 1 loss

The NBA announced Wednesday evening (Thursday, May 22, Manila time) that it has fined Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards $50,000 for using profane language in a media interview.

Edwards dropped the profanity Tuesday in his postgame news conference following the Timberwolves’ 114-88 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals.

Edwards, an All-Star each of the past two seasons, was held to just 18 points – 5 in the second half – and attempted just 13 shots in the Game 1 loss. His comments aired live on ESPN.

This is not the first time Edwards has been fined by the league this season. He has been fined for various other infractions, including inappropriate gestures toward officials and fans.

Edwards also led the NBA in technical fouls (18) this season.
