MANILA, Philippines – Barangay Ginebra and TNT meet again with a championship at stake.
The Gin Kings and Tropang Giga tangle in the finals for second straight time and the third in the last five conferences as they vie for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup crown in a best-of-seven battle.
Redemption is on Ginebra’s mind after it succumbed to TNT in the finals of the past two Governors’ Cup editions, marking the only times they lost in a title series with Justin Brownlee in the lineup.
The finals will see Brownlee, who has led the Gin Kings to six championships, get another crack at breaking his tie with Alaska legend Sean Chambers for the record of most PBA crowns won by an import.
But standing in his way again is Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, who seeks to win his third title with the Tropang Giga.
Ginebra boasts of a reinforced roster after welcoming back Jamie Malonzo and Jeremiah Gray from their injuries and adding Troy Rosario, while TNT aims to get the job done again even without injured guard Jayson Castro.
