MANILA, Philippines – The Catholic Church appealed for prayers as Super Typhoon Pepito (Man-yi), the Philippines’ 16th tropical cyclone for 2024, lashes parts of Luzon and the Visayas.
TV Maria, a church-run television station, released the following oratio imperata, a prayer for deliverance from calamities:
On top of their prayer brigades, different churches have also responded to Pepito by opening their places of worship to evacuees. One of those that sheltered evacuees was the Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Polangui, Albay, which sheltered around 138 families from Centro Occidental as of 6 pm on Friday, November 15.
Other churches are gathering donations or dispatching volunteers.
